Would you consider building the CollisionAware functionality from Lee's great project directly into SD? 

I would appreciate this great feature as well.

It would be a great help, and also speed up the migration of PilotAware to the Android platform.

PilotAware is already compatible with SkyDemon; it always has been, as far as I know.

Except sending the GPS location back to PilotAware uses a seperate app. 

Sorry, I don't understand. As far as I am aware, PilotAware is FLARM-compatible in its output. That means it sends all necessary information to SkyDemon. There is no precedent for SkyDemon sending information TO a collision-avoidance device to make it work (nor should there be, in my opinion).

I think the issue is that unlike the FLARM device, PilotAware has no in-built GPS and therefore required an additional app to run to send the GPS data from the iPad to the PilotAware device via WiFi, which is then send back again to SkyDemon alongside the 'FLARM' data that SD interprets as traffic.

What would be useful is if this additional app (called P3i CollisionAware and written by Lee as an 'interface') could effectively be integrated into SD, so whereas at the moment the option is to 'Go Flying>use Location Services' or 'Go Flying>Use FLARM' there is an additional entry say 'Go Flying>Use PilotAware' and SkyDemon then manages the interface to the PilotAware box/network.

I would feel more comfortable if SD was using the native 'Location Services' for its GPS fix and then the PilotAware traffic data were just combined - at the moment I'm not sure what happens if the PilotAware box goes off line (I'm still waiting for a few bits to get mine working) but I'm assuming that SD not only loses the traffic but also will lose its GPS fix. and would require a restart to then select 'use location services' as its GPS source.

You're right. I had a chat with Pilot Aware over the weekend. I urged them to integrate a GPS receiver into their product, as for a very low cost that would make it much more resilient and it would no longer have to depend upon any connected app to feed it with location information. Furthermore it would allow the device to be connected to an existing Mode S transponder, to facilitate other people (without PilotAware) being able to see your aircraft. I am hopeful they will do this.

We cannot afford to add this sort of location streaming into SkyDemon to support a product without existing broad market penetration.
